The Vicmico Planters Association (VPA) has released its complaint against Victorias Milling Company (VMC) for the alleged act of oppression against sugar growers who simply want to grind their cane at any mill in their choice.

In a statement released Thursday, Sept. 15, by VPA executives and board members led by Aurelio Gerado “Bodie” Valderama Jr., the association condemned the plant for recently closing a major road leading to d other factories.

This deprived the use of the road to APV members and other farmers who do not practice milling with VMC.

“Under the guise of road repairs, VMC has closed roads (for VPA members) leading to other factories while the factory continues to allow non-VPA members to use these roads,” said the association.

Additionally, the mill “refuses to accept canes from our members unless they are milling individually, which in effect encourages and incentivizes sugar producers to grind with VMC without affiliation to our association,” it said. -he declares.

“This places an additional burden and trucking costs on our small farmer members, especially the Land Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs),” he said, adding that “we condemn these oppressive acts by the factory, especially in this time of sugar shortage”.

VPA said its members asked them to bring the matter to the attention of Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Lacson, Third District Representative Jose Francisco Benitez, Administration Sugar Regulator and Under Secretary of Agriculture Domingo Panganiban for resolution.
