Bassin du Vieux Moulin – School supplies distributed just in time for the new school year

Although it was raining on Tuesday, a long line formed outside Congresswoman Jaime Williams’ office at 5318 Avenue N to stock up on supplies needed for the upcoming school year.

The call went out in July for donations to help students who may not have the supplies they needed to start the new school year, and that call was answered by the community with all kinds of supplies including students would need, as well as backpacks to put them on.

Outside and under the tents there were games, popcorn and other goodies, while inside the office families were allowed to choose what they needed for school .

“I am so grateful for the community,” said a mother of three who all attend PS 312. She expressed her gratitude for the efforts of the Assembly office and everyone who contributed.

“We need more people to come out and support our elected officials and the work they do for the community,” said community liaison Christina Phillips. “It’s for them.”

Partners included NYPD, Millennium Development, Orange Box USA, East Flatbush Village, Bical Auto Mall, Kings Plaza Mall, Lions International and all who generously donated supplies.
