To knowa Polish vertically integrated producer of rebar, merchant and quality steel bars, has selected Danieli for the first time for two strategic projects, a new coiling line and a new light section rolling mill, to expand its production portfolio while achieving the most competitive OpEx.

The winding line will be installed downstream of the existing To know in Krakow and produces compact bars in coils up to 3.5 tonnes, from 8 to 20 mm, at a rate of 75 t/h. It will consist of a complete set of a 4 pass rapid finishing block, quenching water cooling boxes and two winding machines including finishing services.

Two new Danieli roughing stands will be placed between the existing reheating furnace and rolling mill to allow the feeding of 160mm square billets.

The new light section rolling mill selected by To know will produce a wide range of profiles including flats, equal and unequal angles, HE/IPE/IPN beams, UPN/UPE, as well as T, round and square profiles at a rate of 80 t/h (450,000 tpa of finished material).

A new reheating pendulum furnace will feed an 18-stand mill without a stand with 160 mm square billets. The factory supply will include full finishing services, including a straightening and cut-to-length machine, rolling guides and consumables for a complete production mix. The technological layout of the rolling mill has been designed to allow the installation of two additional roughing stands at the head of the continuous rolling mill, to allow the use of a 200 mm square billet, with the aim of widening the mix of products.

Both contracts include engineering, technology supply, on-site training and consulting services.

The coiling line is expected to be operational by the end of 2022, while the light section rolling mill is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.
