Production at the Loreo plant in Cartiere del Polesine drops due to high gas prices

Italian producer of recycled corrugated cardboard Cartiere del Polesine has suspended production at one of its two factories. The temporary shutdown of production is expected to last until Monday.

Manufacturing at Stationery of Cartiere del Polesine in Loreo in the Italian province of Rovigo has been inactive since Monday. The company has suspended manufacturing operations due to high energy prices and plans to keep machines idle for an entire week. However, a longer downtime cannot be excluded. That depends on whether gas prices continue to move, a company spokesman said.

Cartiere del Polesine operates two paper machines at the Loreo mill with a total production capacity of 280 tpd, or approximately 90,000 tpa of recycled corrugated cardboard. The mill produces Italian fluted and medium grades in grammages from 105 to 170 gsm.

Production at the company’s 250,000 tpy Adria paper mill is unaffected.
