Purple rumor mill: Kyle Hamilton to Vikings, Trade with Cowboys, Dalvin Cook in KOC offense

Kyle Hamilton

VikingsTerritoryit is purple rumor mill is a chronicle of two days each week. All of the week’s rumors are lassoed and filed in two places – the Saturday and Sunday articles – for review. Today is the edition of April 17.

Remember – rumors are rumors. What you read over the weekend in these articles is what the world is talking about regarding the Vikings, not necessarily things that will come to fruition.

Rumor: Kyle Hamilton will fall to the Vikings on draft night

It’s a classic “what if the best player in the draft goes down” rumor. He won’t fall that far.

Hamilton is just too good to pass up 11 times. If that happens, the Vikings should proverbially “sprint to the podium” for his services. Vikings, 1st round safeties and Notre Dame have a fabulous mix.

It’s a cool conversation starter, dreaming about his dip in the Minnesota draft. But that is extremely unlikely.

Rumor: Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will trade with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys

This rumor is not crazy. In the grand scheme of things, that’s unlikely to happen, but stranger things have happened.

Jerry Jones recently said he would like to trade in the draft. Well, the Vikings have the No. 12 pick. Boom.

We do not know what or who specifically Jones would want with the 12th pick, but Kwesi Adofo-Mensah should open his ears if the phone rings from jerry’s world.

Rumor: Dalvin Cook isn’t necessarily needed in a Kevin O’Connell offense

You know how on Thanksgiving you fill a pumpkin pie with whipped cream?

Cook is whipped cream in a Ramsian O’Connell offense. In Zimmer’s attack, Cook was the pie.

If it’s true that the Rams didn’t need a dominating traffic jam to win Super Bowl LVI, will Cook really get in the way of the Vikings’ offense? Negative.

Sean McVay’s Rams weren’t opposite to a Top 5 RB — hell, they employed Todd Gurley for two years with McVay — it just wasn’t required.

The Vikings will finish Cook’s first, then restart the clock with a rookie halfback, in our opinion.
