Packaging and specialty papers manufacturer Sappi Europe will make a significant long-term investment to further strengthen its label paper business. From the end of 2023, the label paper production capacities will be extended to the Gratkorn plant in Austria. The double-digit investment of one million euros in technological innovations, such as a new embossing calendar, will enable modern paper mills to produce high-quality wet-glue label paper.
To ensure continuous 100% availability and prompt delivery of its premium label papers to its partners, Sappi has proactively positioned itself for the future. With its European factories in Alfeld (Germany) and Carmignano (Italy), as well as Somerset (USA), the course was already set for secure production and flawless supply chains. Today, these mills are complemented by Gratkorn, one of the largest and most modern paper mills in Europe, to guarantee the higher capacities and reliability of supply that the market demands more than ever. Thanks to the central location of the Gratkorn production site, transport distances are short, which saves energy and reduces environmental impact. At the same time, more efficient and shorter production cycles ensure fast delivery and an even more flexible response to customer requirements.
